Vijayrao Naik College of Pharmacy (D. Pharm), Shirval, Sindhudurg organized Hospital Visit for DCP-II students at the Dr. Nagvekar Hospital & Nursing Home, on 6th January 2024. Dr. Anant Nagavekar Medical officer welcomed the students and faculty members.
The hospital has various departments like OPD, Delivery ward, Mother and Child Health Care ward, Operation Theatre, Also the hospital had a Storage room for medicines, First Aid room, Medicine/ Pharmacist Department and pathology lab.
In the beginning Dr. Anant Nagavekar Medical officer narrated the various departments and explained the various schemes for the public as well health delivery system in India. Also, he explained the various programmes like Mother Child Survey, vaccination programmes which are run under his hospital. Afterwards he showed OPD, the outpatient room should had separate areas for consultation and examination. The OPD area for examination had sufficient privacy.
Dr. Anant also showed delivery room and experienced staff like Labor and delivery nurse, Doctor, Anaesthesiologist, Other nurses etc. hospital had Mother and Child Health Care ward where post-delivery care provided to the mother as well as child. In Operation Theatre various surgical instruments are there for performing various surgeries and sterilization equipment’s for sterilizing the equipment’s used in surgery.
Afterwards Mrs. Renuka Ubale, head nurse introduced students to the observation room storage room for medicines, First aid room. While recovering patient from any disease condition observation room is helpful to observe patient’s health progress. She also showed how various medicines are stored according to their storage conditions in store room for medicines.
The hospital had its Medicine/Pharmacist Department where medicines are dispensed under the supervision of Registered Medical Pharmacist. Mr. Deepak Raorane, Registered Medical Pharmacist showed various medicines to the students which are used in the treatment of T.B, viral fever, Malaria, Diabetes, Hypertension etc.
Mr. Jagdish Angholkar, a Phlebotomist explains various tests for detecting the diseases. he also introduced various instruments and tests to the students for the detection of various diseases and also explains various blood tests, blood glucose level tests, hemoglobin tests etc.
During the visit, students collected information about the hospital organization and various departments of the hospital. They were enriched with knowledge about surgical instruments, and medical devices used in the hospital for a different purposes. Students observed the drug dispensing system in the hospital pharmacy.
